Freedom as a theme and concept is probably the most abused, misused and misunderstood word that exists. The truth is that nothing is easier than to deprive people of any kind of freedom, in the sense of liberation or natural right.
Original choreographic creative work can provide a place to examine how to resolve the internal tension between the individual and the collective, what kind of authority can act as a positive driving force, and which can prove destructive. And so, when I am asked if my work is political, my answer is that my work is not political, but it is the way I work that IS political.
